Post-operative infections are a major concern in healthcare today, significantly affecting patient outcomes. These infections not only lead to extended hospital stays and increased treatment costs but also, in severe cases, can result in life-threatening conditions. Preventing these infections is of utmost importance in ensuring that patients recover quickly and safely after surgery. With advances in medical technology and the rise of antibiotic resistance, infection prevention has become even more critical.
This lecture examines causes, risk factors, the proper procedure before, during and after surgery, as well as how patient involvement can help.
