presented by prof. Igor Linsky
Addiction remains a significant public health challenge in Ukraine, with high rates of substance abuse, particularly involving alcohol, opioids, and illicit drugs. Economic instability, ongoing conflict, and limited access to mental health services have contributed to the widespread use of substances as a coping mechanism. The opioid crisis, fueled in part by the availability of synthetic drugs, has further intensified concerns. While efforts to improve treatment and harm reduction programs are ongoing, addressing addiction in Ukraine requires a comprehensive approach that considers both social and psychological factors. This lecture based on the material and findings of Prof. Igor Linsky focuses on the following topics:
- Addiction through Ukraine’s History
- Factors Influencing Substance Use
- Impact of Addiction on Mental Health
- Recent Developments in Substance Use
